Number Seven

Google - what a great tool. It is amazing what it offers. I set up a Google Alert for news on the Dallas Cowboys. I am looking forward to seeing what news I get. I set it for once a day. It was so quick and easy to do.
The other tool I played more with was iGoogle. I now have a customized home page. It was also quick and easy to do. I will set up a link as soon as I figure out how to do so. I need to spend some time on that part. I will update this entry at that time.
I am enjoying playing on the computer at work.

There are some very neat mashup sites. Mappr allows you to post photos to different continents. This would be a great exercise for students when they are learning landmarks. Get the photos and then the students must determine what the landmark is and where is belongs on the map.
Mosiac Maker allows you to make photo mosiacs. Allow students to take pictures of something that they are studying. They can create a mosiac about their subject to present to the rest of the class. These mosiacs can show different characteristics and information about the students subject.

Thing Five

Flickr
This site lets you label your pictures to make it easier to find them later on. I learned there are several kinds of labels. Each group that you set up can hold 75 pictures.
Pictures can be shared between groups. Once you set up the group you are the first administrator of that group.
Libraries around the world use Flickr's.
I am looking forward to trying this with photos that I take in the library so I can share them with others.

Thing Four

Register your blog.
I noticed that when I looked at the blog names at Learning2.0 I realized mime was not there. I had not registered it.
It is really not difficult to do, however I had to send my email through web access. I am looking forward to seeing my blog name in the list of the others. It will be easy to access it in Learning 2.0

Thing Three

Setting up my blog.
Today has been a real learning adventure. I set up my very first blog and I have posted to it twice. I did have a problem and had 25 drafts of my first post.
The directions for setting up the blog were not too hard. I still have not done my avatar yet. I tried to do it but I was kicked out of the program. I am going to try and get it done this afternoon.
Sharing information and ideas with others is really fun.

Thing Two

71/2 habits of successful learning.
We are truely lifelong learners. We acquire knowledge and new skills by reading a book, or watching a movie, or by playing a game, etc.
Attitude is very important because it is never too late to learn something new.
Have your goals in mind and accept responsibility for your own learning.
View problems as challenges to be learned from. It is important to have to proper tools for the job. You can make this work or you can make this fun. It is up to you.
Time does become a factor in how much one can do and learn. Use your time wisely.

Thing One

Learning has never been so much fun. This is my first blog and I am excited about this. I need to be current with technology and this is a great step forward for me. The hands on time today is letting me get started and feel more confident about what I am doing. I am aquiring new skills and have friends around me to help and to commiserate with, if and when we get lost or confused.
The tutorials are very helpful and well presented. I look forward to this adventure of learning.
